OUTSIDE LANDS

was a lot of fun. I signed up to volunteer so I could get in for free and....I don't know....I guess it was worth it because I got in for free and got to see a few bands, but I kind of feel like I spent all day in the tent [which isn't bad because it was so hot today]. The festival is definitely pricey but it would have been nice if I didn't have to work. I guess sneaking in would have been the best option. hahah.

Basically, I sat in a booth and helped festival goers exchange bottles and cans for points and prizes, kind of like an "adult Chuck E Cheese" [a phrase I heard way too many times]. I worked with a bunch of other volunteers who were all pretty cool, but there were times when I felt awkward because I didn't really know any of them. Everyone had their friend with them while I was alone. haha. This is a clear example of how I can be very socially awkward. I did talk to a few of them and even talked to this guy about FOTC and It's Always Sunny which made my day.

So the few bands I got to see: Portugal. The Man, Bat for Lashes, a bit of Jason Mraz, the end of Deerhunter, and a bit of The Mars Volta. They were all awesome, but Bat for Lashes was amazing! Maybe it's because this was the one performance that I was looking forward to, but oh my god, it was perfection! Nastasha Khan is a goddess. Her voice was amazing! And her band was so cool. HER SET. Oh my god, she had a badass wolf tapestry, twin angels, a Jesus figurine, a crow, and star wiring around her mic. AMAZING. The two guys behind me were hilarious because they kept raving about Natasha and how gorgeous she was and how they were going to die when she played "Daniel." They I found amusing. There was another couple in front of me who were more annoying...what is the point of taking myspace photos of yourself with the performer in the back? You just look like a dumbass, sorry. And it's not like they did it once, they did it several times: one for the guy, one for the girl, and three times as a couple. Is that really necessary? And then these two girls pushed forward and started dancing, which was kind of funny, but I felt bad for the people in front of me/directly behind them because their arms were all over the place. Anyway, those slight annoyances couldn't deter from the brilliance of Bat for Lashes. It was fantastic.

Side note: her roadie was this British guy whose accent amused me whenever he said "Check 1, 2, 3." I don't know how I'm going to live in a country where everyone sounds like that. I might just die from the cuteness.

Anyway, here's Bat for Lashes - Daniel

idk what to title this

My last day of work was yesterday and it was surprisingly, bittersweet. I've sort of been looking forward to the end of my internship only because I hated having to wake up so early everyday. It's taken me awhile to realize this, but I'm not a morning person. During the first few weeks of my internship, I was actually somewhat diligent and went to bed pretty early, ensuring at least 7 hours of sleep. Towards the end though, I went back to my natural habits and slept later, leaving me with 5-6 hours of sleep. Which was really bad. There were times when I caught myself dozing off during the day. Just yesterday afternoon, I found myself almost leaning my head on the shoulder of the guy next to me on the bus. Really embarassing. :( So anyway, the last day finally rolled around and I actually spent my last hour on facebook and twitter. HAHHA. There wasn't much for me to do and they actually planned a pizza party for me [which was really sweet] so I was told that I could just surf the internet. YAY. hahah.

Everyone I worked with was really nice and they even gave me a card! I was really touched and I think I'm actually going to miss going into work. THREE WEEKS OF UNEMPLOYMENT HERE I COME.

OK. Back to "Mad Men"!

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS FAN VIDEO BY THE WAY. I WATCH IT AT LEAST TWICE A DAY.

I'M GOING TO PARK MY CAR IN THE GARRIAJJJ

Oh my god these videos are cracking me up.

I am almost tempted to try out these words when I head over there...just to see what the reaction would be like.

bullet points

  • I've finally started watching "Mad Men" to see what all the hype was about and it is actually very good. Like most shows, it starts off slow and then slowly builds up. Season 3 premiered last night, but I'm still on season 1! Ugh. Must catch up soon.
  • I just scored tickets to AVATAR DAY! Yes! I'm pretty excited about this because the footage they showed at Comic Con was supposedly mind blowing. Plus I'll be able to sneak into some other movies afterwards as the footage they're showing us is like twenty minutes long. Definitely want to see "Inglourious Basterds" and maybe "Post Grad"?
  • LAST WEEK OF WORK! I'm kind of excited, but kind of sad because I won't be getting paid anymore.
  • Add "School of Rock" to movies that always make me happy. The kids are so cute.
  • Miranda just referred to East Anglia as the "IOWA OF ENGLAND." HAHHA. Well that should be interesting.
  • Finally decided to send in my HP laptop for overdue repair. It sort of died on me back in June, but suddenly decided to work again so I didn't send it in. However, my mom's been pestering me to send it in because what if it fails while I'm abroad? So I'm paranoid now and spent 40 minutes on the phone with tech support. The guy said I have the best password he's heard of thus far. Awesome.

this movie was pretty fanfuckingtastic.

ONE MORE WEEK OF WORK!!! And less than a month until I leave. I'm "anxious excited," definitely.

oops

I really should update this more often...and not just with youtube videos. Unfortunately, I feel like my days aren't exciting enough to warrant a post. Basically this is what my schedule is like:

7:30-8:00 am: attempt to wake up
8:00 am: pulled out of bed by either my mom or my dad
8:00 - 8:20 am: eat breakfast and get ready for work
8:20 - 8:25 am: double check that I have everything and tie my shoes. Maybe a last minute bathroom session.
8:25 - 8:30 am: my dad drives me to West Portal station
8:30 - 8:32 am: attempt to walk/run into the station without being run over by MUNI trains
8:33 - 8:40 am: get on a train headed downtown
8:40 - 8:50 am: get pushed around by other people while on the train and try to avoid briefcases and backpacks that may hit me or people who stand and read magazines.
8:50 am - 8:57 am: walk one block to 101 Montgomery and try to avoid the pee [?] or water [?] on the sidewalks
8:57 - 9:00 am: kill time in the elevator and maybe a potty break
9:00 am - 1:oo pm: attempt to do work. I finished the Financial District photo project ahead of time and for awhile, started cleaning up the Walnut Creek office's drive by deleting files and copying and pasting, but then I was assigned a new photo project. This time SOMA! Hooray.
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: take the L home/walk up the hill to my house [perhaps the most exercise I get everyday]
2:00 pm - 2:30 pm: eat "lunch"
2:30 pm - to whatever time I go to sleep: feeble attempts at being productive, mostly watch shows online, swimming [?!], etc etc.

So you see, not very exciting. I've also realized that I've stopped my photo a day because my days really aren't that exciting....and my camera's totally dead and I have yet to recharge it. OOPS.

oh god so awkward

"I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me," Ryan told me. "I said to her, 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me--Tatum!' I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter. It's so sick."
