new haircut for new quarter

Alright so I got my hair cut on Saturday. It actually ended up shorter than I expected/wanted. I think it's a combo of

Demetri Martin's hair/bowlcut

and

Britney Spears's "Womanizer" hair.

I think.

I am a bit excited about the classes I'm taking this quarter. ESPECIALLY THIS:

History of Film Music (4) Lecture--3 hours; film viewing--3 hours. Prerequisite: courses 3A and 3B, or course 10. Film music from silent films to movies of the past decade. How music supports and shapes film narrative and structure. Use of jazz, rock and classical music in film. Offered in alternate years. Offered irregularly. GE credit: ArtHum, Wrt.

YAY!

:(

Sometimes I read the wall to walls between me and some of my friends and it makes me REALLY miss last year/freshman year (and even senior year of high school). :(

And then I get semi depressed because I keep living in the past instead of enjoying the present.

AHHH SUMMER STUFF

What am I going to do for the summer?

I have no idea.

I can stay in Davis and do summer school since I have an apartment and that would save me the trouble of subleasing it. But it's hot as hell and I would probably cry everyday because of the heat.

What I would like to do is find a job and/or internship for the summer. Ideally, I would like something that has to do with media (mostly news channels or something) because that's what I'm interested in, but those internships are really hard to get (I think) and they're unpaid. I really need a paying job as well since studying abroad is expensive as HALE. I need to make some ~cash monay~. :(

Anyway, this morning I went to the JobsForYouth interview (it's this agency that pairs you up with a job or internship...meant only for San Francisco youth so that certainly narrows the application pool) and I think it went pretty well. Hopefully everything works out. IT HAS TO. Or I will cry.

I'm going to try to research and find other internship/job things to apply too. It's getting close to summer (!!!!)

AHHH SPRING BREAK IS ALMOST OVER. I haven't done anything that exciting except swimming at the new Sava Pool (paid youth price HOLLA) and karaoking with my friends. It was nice belting out Spice Girls and Disney Songs.

OMG. I am actually kind of excited about my classes for next quarter. Spring in Davis is SO nice but terrible because they work up my allergies. Seriously, I never had allergies before coming to Davis. Now I have to pop Claritin all the time. Erghhhh....but the weather is SO NICE. I LOVE IT.

Spring Breaking It

Finals were disastrous. Honestly, the worse set of finals EVER.

Econ 101 had the be the absolute worst. Whoever invented 8am finals should die in a raging fire (okay, maybe not...but they should experience some sort of pain). I realized that I was already far behind about three weeks ago when I didn't know wtf was going on in lecture and vowed to read a chapter a day until the final. Of course that didn't happen. Instead it took me two days to read Chp 3 (Measuring the Economy. LOLZ. GDP.) and I ended up cramming for the final the night before. Cramming, as we all know, almost NEVER EVER EVER works. I stayed up until 3:30 AM trying to do the practice final and reading the miniscule slides I printed out (also, whoever decided that anyone who doesn't live in the dorms only gets 90 pages to print should also experience some sort of pain). It was terrible. I woke up around 7am, knowing that I was totally screwed. I was a bit late (naturally) and when I walked in, I was really confused. For some reason, almost all the lights were off and my classmates were taking the test in the dark! Our professor wasn't there the TAs were in charge. I guess they were kinda confused about how to turn on all the lights so we took the test in semi-darkness for a good half an hour. Much LOLZ and relief were had when the maintenence guy walked and just flipped the switch. After that, I began to panic when I read the free response questions and realized that I couldn't do ANY OF THEM. I wanted to cry. I did the best I could and filled in some BS, praying for partial credit. After two hours of torture, the test was over and I went back to the apartment and napped.

CMN 101 was okay. I wasn't too worried about this one since I had gone to office hours and asked all of my questions. But I was told that I needed to get a 45/50 on the final in order to get an A. After ECN 101, depression hit me and I didn't really cram as much as I should of. =/ The test was fairly easy....everyone finished withing an hour. Unfortunately I only got a 44. So, I was/am a point from an A-. WHY. WHY. WHY?!?!

Spanish was my first final and again, I wasn't really too worried about this one since I knew that the highest grade I could get was a B. Even with my cooking extra credit (yes I was one out of four people who made a Hispanic dish for extra credit), the most I could get was a 87 or so. The test did take me the full two hours though. I think I have accepted the fact that I am just not good at languages.

Calculus was at 8am on SATURDAY. YES. SATURDAY. SO WHOEVER CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF SATURDAY FINALS ALSO DESERVES SEVERE PAIN. This one I also knew I was screwed for, which is actually kind of sad because this is my third round of Calculus. Last year, I took MAT 16A and 16B which is Short Calculus and earned solid A's in both classes. This class, however, was the Calculus recommended for Econ majors hoping to go to grad schools and the other students who are Engineering/Chemistry/Math majors (aka smart people). ANOTHER TERRIBLE FINAL. Merry and I are in the same class so we crammed the night before until almost 4am, but to no avail. The test was worth 200 points and the average was 53%. =/

Afterwards, Merry and my other friends (Jenny, Angela, and Janet) who had come up for the weekend all went to Sacramento to see the play "Avenue Q" while I took my CMN 14o final. For some reason, I just could not do well in this class. Too much reading, probably. The class was interesting but I fell asleep everyday! Anyway, the final was just another 25% test (our grade is the average of those tests) so again, I wasn't too worried.

And thus concluded finals week. I am now at home finally getting the sleep I need! I have a ton of stuff to do though. I desparately need a job and/or internship for the summer and now that I'm back home, I have to get it together. Ugh. And I still need to complete my EAP scholarship because that's due next Friday. AHHHHHHHHHH.

I wish I could post something interesting in this entry since it's mostly about school and that's always boring, so I'll give you the link to Edgar Wright's website HERE. He's filming "Scott Pilgrim" right now and is updating his blog/site like crazy. He always has interesting photo-of-the-days as well. Y SO KEWL EDGAR.

why does this always happen to me?

I blame this video for igniting my current obsession

All of this led to me listening to this song on repeat and subsequently youtubing the hell out of the Spice Girls' reunion tour last year.

Anddddddddddd

I still need to study for finals.

Luckily I have very kind friends, one especially who is willing to photoshop MS paint my face into photos. BEHOLD:

I am very disappointed

that the newest Flight of the Conchords didn't have "Bus Driver's Song" despite the fact that they set everything up PERFECTLY!

Oh Taika Waititi...setting us up like that.

In a way, I'm not that upset that they didn't use it. Not having it at all is better than not having Bret sing it [it almost seemed like the NZ prime minister was going to sing it. I would have cut a bitch.] Still it was a hilarious episode, but could have been epic with "Bus Driver's Song."

Bus Drivers Song - Flight of the Conchords

Oh and I bought the Watchmen graphic novel today! With a gift card and 30% off coupon the total came to be about $7.60. :)

YIKESSSSSSSSSS

It seems as though Watchmen's getting really mixed reviews. I wonder if it'll still be enjoyable for someone who's never read the graphic novel [yes I'm a poser comic book nerd]. Oh well, SIR is in it so that'll make up for any craziness/WTFness.

I haven't updated in almost a month and I still haven't started the A PICTURE A DAY thing. Fail! But today is the one year anniversary of the Pipe Bomb night which was one of the craziest nights ever. How many people can say their dorm was evacuated because some guy was ordering/possibly making pipe bombs? Yeah, didn't think so!
Anyway, I'm still going to watch Watchmen this weekend, even though I haven't read the graphic novel. Besides...isn't it better to not have any expectations? I guess I'll find out. The sex scene seems to be pissing off a lot of people though.

I shall start the Photo-A-Day soon! Still need to do dialogues for Spanish. UGH. I've also been listening to The Starting Line a lot [again]. Their "I'm Real" cover is the best.

Ok, I leave you [all] with this
