I finally got to watch "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Milk" on Tuesday and both were FANTASTIC!!!




"Slumdog" was just...I don't even know...I think the word that best describes it is "exhilarating." There are just so many emotions that you feel as you watch this movie. I definitely left the theater satisfied. I would highly recommend this to ANYBODY. This might have been the best movie I've seen all year (well, tied with "The Dark Knight".)


"Milk" was very, very moving. The acting was fantastic and I think it was just an all around great ensemble cast. Every single actor pulled their own weight. I especially loved Diego in this movie. He cracked me up. I think I liked "Slumdog" more, but only because it was so uplifting, whereas "Milk" was sort of a quieter, powerful movie. I guess knowing the ending also had to do with my opinion....

Still, both movies were great and I'm glad I got to see them. Reading all the youtube comments on "Slumdog" videos makes me sad that a lot of people aren't able to watch movies that aren't really mainstream.

Anyway, I just finished this:




and it was AMAZING!!!!!! I LOVED IT. I could relate to a lot of what Marjane was feeling. Knowing that you've disappointed your family...never becoming what you had once dreamed of being....And now I really want to watch the movie.

WINTER BREAK O LAS VACIONES INVIERNO [?]

There I go again with my Spanish. I'm trying to use it more, especially since I will be taking it for the next two quarters! Sometimes I miss francais, mais j'aime espanol aussi parceque it's more useful...?

ANYWAY

Today is the start of my WINTER BREAKKK!!! I am so happy, these past few weeks have been awful. First I had that dreaded history paper that I swore I would work on during Thanksgiving weekend. OF COURSE THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I ended up reading half of "Train to Pakistan" and stopped reading "Spider Eaters" four or five chapters from the end (I did skim the epilogue though) and stayed up till about 5 in the morning. The prompt called for 5 or 6 pages and I was already on the fifth page, but still hadn't tackled my second arguement. FAIL. So I woke up around 9ish and tried to write some more until it was time for Spanish at 10. I actually was late to class because I figured that I might as well be a little late, so long as I got more work done. Despite the fact that I promised myself that I wouldn't skip the last class for my EAP (study abroad) seminar because of this essay, I did. Ugh, I felt so bad but I really didn't have a choice because Caitlin and I signed up to have our oral Spanish test at 12:30 and history class was at 1. So yeah, I cut a class to stay in the computer lab at the library to finish that essay. I ended up with SEVEN PAGES. Well, more like 6 pages and three sentences. BUT STILL. Thank god I got an A on that paper. I would have been mad if I didn't after working pratically all night.

This past week was FINALS WEEK! AHHH. So those previous posts about "actually studying"...yeah that didn't happen. I ended up procrasinating all weekend because of JONAS SECRETS (those images below) and didn't study for my finals until the night before. Specifically the morning before. That's right! I got an average of 4-5 hours a sleep per night this week. I currently look and feel like a zombie. Well, besides that, finals were okay, I guess. I'm scared that I actually screwed up on all of them because of my lack of studying even though I never panicked while taking them.

1. History was long and tiring. ID's and two essays.
2. ECN 100 was definitely my hardest one, but I think my professor made it A LOT easier than the midterms because our entire class has failed both. Hopefully I'm right and not just stupid.
3. ECN1B was torturous. Okay so that class has about 400 or so people and we're all crammed into one another as we're taking the test and I just happen to be lucky enough to sit next to a guy who coughed every two seconds. My sleep depriviation also caught up to me around this time as my head started pounding and I had trouble understanding the questions, despite reading each one three times. It took me an hour to finish a 30 multiple choice test. Sad.
4. Spanish was this morning at 8 AM!! Jeez. I am not a morning person at all and this was the earliest I've had to wake up this entire quarter. Again, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but who knows with Spanish. I probably did the entire thing wrong. Oh and I couldn't remember the name for backpack or the holiday that's celebrated on the 6th of January [must google later]. Towards the end of the test, my teacher went up to me and asked if I had turned in the homework that was due. I was in shock since I was positive that I had physically walked up in front of Giedt 1001 and handed her my Chevre, to which she had replied, "Gracias." I told her that I had definitely turned it in and she said she would look. After the exam, I asked if she had found it and the answer was no, but she said that she "trusted" me and that she'd send an email if she couldn't find it. FINGERS CROSSED BECAUSE I NEED THOSE POINTS!!
   

WHATEVER. ALL OF THAT IS IN THE PAST NOW. I MUST MOVE FORWARD. Winter break is finally here and I've got DISNEYLAND to look forward to! I am so excited. I've always gone to Disneyland during the summer, but never during the holidays, much less New Year's Eve! EEK.

Ugh. This time I'm going to try to actually study and NOT procrasinate. We'll see how that goes. In the meantime, the trailer for "The Boat that Rocked" came out this week and it looks AWESOME. I am SO excited.

Oh and I managed to find "Les Chansons d'Amour" on youtube last night. I LOVED IT. Louis was gorgeous in it and the music was fantastic.

I am dying to watch "Les Chansons d'Amour"

I'm really bad at keeping up with this thing....

I always think about updating this but I've been too busy with school [read : procrastinating] . Anyway, it's finally Thanksgiving weekend and it's been nice to go home and not have to worry about food and school for four days. I was supposed to go movie hopping but felt guilty about homework and not spending time at home so I decided not to go. Ugh and I really wanted to see "Milk" and "Slumdog Millionaire." "Quantum of Solace" as well, but that's getting mixed reviews so I'm okay with seeing that over winter break. "Twilight" too [for obvious reasons. LOLZ.]

Anyway I have a history paper due on Wednesday and I am determined not to leave it until the last night again [that night I only slept for like two hours plus another two hours in the car on the ride back to Davis. LESSON LEARNED = DO NOT LEAVE HISTORY PAPERS TO THE LAST MINUTE AND DO NOT GO HOME THE DAYS/WEEKEND BEFORE A PAPER IS DUE].

YES. I finally checked it out from the library after meaning to for the last several months. I'm excited. I still have yet to receive the other volumes of "Scott Pilgrim" and my "Cute Stuff" books....oh and I owe the library another $7. Ugh.

Today was a good day...

The weather was really nice and it was the first day this year I've really enjoyed myself. I'll post about it tomorrow.

Oh gosh. It's 2AM...almost 2:30. One of my housemates loves sleeping in my other housemate's bed for some strange reason and she's snoring really loudly. I can hear it through the walls [AS I CRIED OUT, LIKE, LATIN THIS IS SO NOT LIFE OUT ALL. Oh hai. Spring Awakening. God I need to sleep].

Point is-

I have an obsession with creating blogs and what not. My housemate snores really loudly. And I need to sleep. At least before 3 AM. Seriously...sometimes I procrastinate on sleeping. How pathetic.
